Kendari, SE Sulawesi (ANTARA News)- Floods have expanded to wider areas in Noth Konawe district, Southeast Sulawesi Province.

Local inhabitants were reminded to remain vigilant of flooding, North Konawe District Head Ruksamin said on the phone on Wednesday.

The floods have expanded to three sub-districts, namely Langkikima, Asera and Andowia.

"Every time, local residents have been reminded to remain vigilant. Thank God, there is no casualty in the flooding triggered by incessant heavy rains over the last one week," Ruksamin said.

The floods inundated residential and farming areas, as well as Trans Sulawesi highway, he noted.

In Asera sub-district, the affected villages include Tapuwatu, Walalindu, Puwanggudu, and Ala Wanggudu, with flood waters reaching a height of up one meter.

In Andowia sub-district, floods affected Laronanga and Puusuli villages.

Down pours also caused Linomoyo, Landawe and Lasolo rivers to spill over their banks.
