Indramayu, W. Java (ANTARA News) - The Agriculture Service of Indramayu District, West Java Province, said drought had caused harvest failure over 694 hectares of rice fields in the district.

"We have taken record that until now, we have suffered the harvest failure on 694 hectares of rice fields," Secretary of the District Agriculture Service Takmid said here on Tuesday.

The harvest failure hits four sub-district areas including Gabus Wetan over 214 hectares, Cikedung 11 hectares, Takmid 369 hectares, and Kandanghaur 100 hectares.

Meanwhile, Banun Harpini, chairman of the agency responsible for self sufficiency in supply of rice, corn, and soybean of West Java Province, said the harvest failure is feared to have hit around 6,350 more hectares of rice fields in Indramayu in the next seven days.
