Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) urged members of the Scout movement to not only know Morse language but also digital language and knowledge as well as stay abreast of the rapid developments in information and technology.

"Scouts must not only be educated in Morse language but also digital language and knowledge, coding, and artificial intelligence, which we all must also know," President Jokowi noted while presiding over the 57th Scout Day commemoration ceremony held at the Gajah Mada Square, Wiladatika Recreational Park, Cibubur, Jakarta, Tuesday.

The president also advised the members of the Scout movement on several aspects, so that they would always maintain Pancasila as the state ideology and Unity in Diversity.

"The younger generation should be thirsty for achievements and work, as your achievements are the pride of the nation," he emphasized.

In addition, the president expressed hope that all members of the Scout Movement would lead this country, and the Indonesian nation would be able to bring long-awaited glory to its people.

President Jokowi arrived at the Gajah Mada Field, Wiladatika Recreational Park, Cibubur, Jakarta, at around 16.00 WIB.

Shortly after the president`s arrival, a scouting skills demonstration and an orchid dance were performed by the South Tangerang Scout Branch.

Chairman of the National Scout Movement Movement Adhyaksa Dault then hit the Kentongan (hollow wood being struck) in preparation for the troops entering the field to carry out the ceremony.

The ceremony was at the same time coupled with the conferment of several awards and the signing of the cover of the first day of the Scout Movement.

This year`s Scout Day Commemoration is the Unitary State of Indonesia Adhesive Scout that is expected to symbolize the true role of the Scout movement.
