Bogor, W Java (ANTARA News) - India and the Philippines have reportedly cancelled a plan to take part in the Asian Games 2018 paragliding which will bring together paragliders from 17 countries.

"India and the Philippines have cancelled a plan to participate in the Asian Games 2018 paragliding due to the absence of approval from their Olympiad Council," spokesman for the Indonesian Aero Sport Federation (FASI) Tagor Siagoan said on Thursday.

Siagoan said earlier 17 countries including Afghanistan, China, Kuwait, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Iran, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Thailand, Laos, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan, Singapore, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia will take part in the Asian Games 2018 paragliding.

But Siagoan who quoted information from Indian paraglider Vijai Soni said the two countries have cancelled their participation in the event for unclear reasons.

The two countries cancelled their planned participation in the event apparently because they doubted their paragliders` chance of earning a gold medal, he said.

He said Vijai Soni was disappointed at being absent in the event.

"He is very disappointed. He believes that he will have a good chance of earning a medal in the men`s cross country event," he said.
