"We must have knowledge about artificial intelligence, internet of things, and various new technological advances that continue to develop every second," the president or Jokowi as he popularly known said in his annual state of the nation address to Parliament on Thursday, prior to the celebration of Indonesia`s 73rd Independence Day on Aug 17, 2018.
The head of state stressed the need for Indonesia to adapt quickly and not to be left behind other countries in this digital era and in the period of change in human civilization.
According to Jokowi, the change in the human civilization should be faced with optimism and not with excessive pessimism.
In addition, Indonesia must also be optimistic and confident that with its strong social capital and energy, it can move forward.
Jokowi also revealed that four students of Indonesia have won the world-class Robotic Games at the end of last year, and it proved that the country should not be afraid of Industrial Revolution 4.0 or worry about the future.
For this reason, according to the president, existing developments must be utilized for the progress of the nation.
"We have to quickly take advantage of the opportunities that are in front of us, because in this era, it is not the big ones that defeat the small ones, but the ones that are quick," he remarked.
Indonesia, according to the president, must be confident and courageous. Similarly, there should not be any doubt on the ability of the nation that has gained recognition at the world level.
