Palembang, S Sumatra (ANTARA News) - China`s Haoran Yang grabbed a gold medal from the men`s 10-meter air rifle individual event in the Asian Games 2018 at Jakabaring Sport City in Palembang, South Sumatra, on Monday.

Haoran Yang scored 249.1 points from a total of 24 shootings ahead of Kumar Deepak of India who earned a silver medal with 247.1 points.

Shaochuan Lu of Chinese Taipei who scored 247.1 points bagged a bronze medal.

Haoran Yang appeared to have performed impressively since the qualification stage began. The 22-year old Chinese shooter topped the qualification stage with a total of 632.9 points.

According to data from the Asian Games 2018 organizing committee, Haoron Yang has broken the Asian Games qualification record of 630.7 points set by Y. Cao of China at the Asian Games 2014 held in Incheon, South Korea.

Since the Asian Games 2018 opened on Friday (Aug 18), Haoran Yang has collected two medals. In the 10-meter air rifle mixed team event the day before, he earned a silver medal.

With the gold medal, China topped the medal tally from the shooting event with two gold and one silver medals.

China gained the two gold medals from the 10-meter air pistol mixed double event and the silver medal from the 10-meter air rifle mixed double event.

The Asian Games 2018`s shooting event offers a total of 20 gold medals.
