Cikarang, W Java (ANTARA News) - The North Korean national soccer team will be playing without its captain, Song Kum Song, against Saudi Arabia in the preliminary round of Group F on Monday afternoon.

The match between the North Korean and Saudi soccer teams will be held at the Wibawa Mukti stadium in Cikarang, Bekasi District on the outskirts of Jakarta.

The North Korean captain, who was born on August 23, 1995, has been banned from playing in three consecutive games, including the counter-meeting with the Saudi squad due to a red card given by a referee from Oman, Al Majarafi Mahmood Salim Said.

Song Kum got the sanction due to the accumulation of yellow cards while playing against Iran on Friday (August 17), with a final score of 3-0, leading to Iran`s victory at Wibawa Mukti Stadium, Cikarang.

The midfielder was sent off in the 52nd minute after causing injury to an Iranian player, Mehdikhani Mohammadmehdi.

Losing their captain in this match will make it more difficult for the North Korean team to advance further in the Asian Games.

North Korea has just pocketed 1 point in Group F after sharing a 1-1 draw with Myanmar and losing 0-3 to Iran in the previous game.

Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia is required to perform optimally to get its ticket to advance to the next round by defeating North Korea with full points.
