Palembang, S Sumata (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian national sepak takraw team must defeat Vietnam in the men`s doubles category at the Asian Games if it wants to clinch another medal.

During the two matches competed in by the men`s team in this category on Thursday, the national team suffered a defeat but won one match at the Ranau Hall Jakabaring Sport City Palembang.

Surprisingly, the men`s national team was defeated by Japan in the first match on Thursday morning.

Each team gave a tough fight, but Herson Mohamad and his friends had to concede defeat to Japan, with a score of 1-2.

During that fight, Indonesia`s first team was able to beat Japan, with a score of 21-19 and 21-15. However, the next two teams were unable to replicate this victory and had to give up, with a score of 21-19, 21-19 and 21-15, 21-19.

However, in the second match that took place in the afternoon, the Indonesian men`s team was able to beat the Philippines, with a score of 2-1.

Indonesia`s first team won 21-17 and 21-16, while the second team scored 21-6 and 21-9. Unfortunately, the third team lost, with a score of 23-25 and 20-22.

Indonesia still stands a chance of winning a medal in the doubles if it can beat Vietnam in this morning`s match.
