Jakarta, (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian government warmly welcomed Senegal`s offer to participate in the realization of projects in the west African country, according to Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi.

At her bilateral meeting with Senegalese National Development Planning Minister Syeikh Kante here on Monday, Retno expressed hope that Indonesia could take active part in various economic projects in Senegal, particularly in the economic, infrastructure and housing sectors under an equal partnership scheme.

Economic cooperation between Indonesia and Senegal has shown a positive trend in the past five years, with an average annual growth of 11.38 percent.

In 2017, bilateral trade between the two countries reached US$98.54 million.

Senegal is currently a working partner for Indonesia`s strategic goods and service industries including aircraft manufacturer PT. Dirgantara Indonesia and state shipbuilding company PT. PAL Indonesia.

During the bilateral meeting, the two ministers also welcomed the Senegalese government`s plan to reopen its embassy in Jakarta as part of efforts to enhance relations between the two nations.

While in Indonesia, from Aug 27 to 30, Kante will also meet Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Panjaitan; Industry Minister Airlangga Hartato; representatives from state construction company PT WIKA and Eximbank Indonesia; Indonesian Ulemas Council; and the president`s special envoy for dialogs and cooperation between religion and civilization.
