Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Minister of Youth and Sports Imam Nahrawi called on the Indonesian Swimming Association (PRSI) to evaluate and learn the key to the success of other countries` contingents who managed to bring home medals of the 2018 Asian Games.

"I ask PRSI to learn what Malaysia did that it got the bronze. What China did that it gained extraordinary points," said the minister after watching the diving finals at the Aquatic Stadium of the Gelanggang Bung Karno (GBK), Jakarta, Friday night.

In the men`s three-meter finals, China`s diver Xie Siyi won the gold medal, the other Chinese diver Cao Yuan won the silver medal while Malaysian diver Chew Yiwei took home the bronze medal.

The neighboring country, has a better ranking in the diving category so that the minister encouraged PRSI to send Indonesia`s divers of all age groups to competitions across the country.

In the meantime, senior athletes are encouraged to frequently take part and make tryout in international competitions to build stronger mentality.

"(Our senior athletes should undergo frequent tryouts abroad. In meeting with world champions they will be able to build mentality," Minister Nahrawi said.

Although they could not yet win any medals in the diving, yet the minister appreciated the struggle of the Indonesian athletes who had tried to do their best.
