Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Two Chinese table tennis players, namely Chen Meng (female) and Fan Zhendong (male), advanced to the final round of the individual singles, which will be held at the JI Expo Kemayoran, here, on Saturday, after defeating their respective opponents, Jeon Jihee and Lee Sangsu from Korea.

For Meng, Jihee`s game was nothing strange, including service, hard-hitting with rounds from the underside of the table using both the right and left sides, punches on the table by relying on friction on the wrist, and rally.

From the start, Meng continued to lead the match, without letting Jihee score points, and ended with a score of 11-7.

In the second set, Jihee only equalized the score at 3-3. After that, she kept falling behind until the score closed at 11-7. In the third set, she was a little resistant and the same score occurred twice at 3-3 and 4-4. But eventually, she fell behind and the set closed at 11-6.

In the fourth set, her balls were easily predicted and returned well by Meng. Jihee`s chop balls were stuck on the net several times.

In male single, Fan Zhendong received fights from Lee Sangsu. Sangsu led in the second set with score 11-4 after losing the first set at 3-11.

However, in the next three sets, Sangsu failed to show his best performance compare to the second set and lost with scores 4-11, 9-11, and 5-11.

Sangsu is now ranked 8th in the world, while Zhendong is ranked first in the world.

In the match, Zhendong could return Sangsu`s balls well, which fell down in hard-to-reach areas. Variations in services made Zhendong easy to attack and forced his opponent to return the ball through the chop technique.

After the match, Sangsu stated that he had made all efforts to win and was eager to avenge his previous defeat.

"Zhendong played very well, making it difficult for me to win," he remarked, thanking the support of Indonesian audiences.

In the final round, Meng will meet Yu Mengyu from Singapore or Wang Manyu from China.

Meanwhile, Zhendong will meet Alamiyan Daronkalaei Noshad from Iran or his Chinese counterpart Lin Gaoyuan.
