Tangerang, Banten, (ANTARA News) - Garuda Indonesia President Director I Gusti Ngurah Ashkara Danadiputra said he will renegotiate the company`s aircraft leasing contracts to improve its cost structure and reduce the corporate expenses.

"The aircraft leasing contracts will definitely be renegotiated with the lessor. Surely, we will renegotiate it, especially to extend the leasing period of the current medium- and large-sized aircraft contracts, so, the monthly fee will go down," Danadiputra noted at a press conference after the Extraordinary Meeting of Garuda Indonesia Shareholders at the Garuda Indonesia Office, Tangerang, Wednesday.

According to the Garuda Indonesia president director, renegotiation will economize around 10-20 percent.

"I have not seen its details yet. We will decide in a week at the latest on how to renegotiate and restructure the fleet," he remarked.

Danadiputra has focused on three major lessors to renegotiate the fleet within this one-month period.

"The focus this month is on three big lessors, not too much, but we focus on making a cognitive impact on our costs," he said.

In addition, Danadiputra has in place a transformation program for human resources by embracing the Garuda Indonesia Workers Union (Sekarga) and the Garuda Pilot Association (APG).

"What is certain is that we will make employees happy first. I have spoken to APG, which is a crucial point for employees now to be encouraged again, as I had also received some complaints from the public that employees must be happy first," he stated.

Danadiputra is also determined to save on financing a minimum of US$100 million by the end of 2018 by cutting inefficiencies in the company`s financing structure.

"The most important aspect is to close the operational inefficiencies of $100 million until the end of 2018," he added.
