Langkat, N Sumatra (ANTARA News)- Floods submerged at least 775 homes and rice fields, and damaged a dyke in Langkat District, North Sumatara Province, according to Irwan Sahri, head of the Langkat disaster mitigation office.

The flooding was caused by incessant heavy rains which also triggered a landslide in Setungkit village, Wampu sub-district, Sahri said here, Monday.

Among the worst affected sub-districts were Stabat, Sei Lepah, and Secanggang.

The flooding also triggered Kapak Keruk River to spill over its bank in Secanggang, and inundated farming areas measuring 30 hectares in Stabat.
