Bogor, West Java (ANTARA News) - Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman launched the Polytechnic of Agriculture Development (Polbangtan) under the Ministry of Agriculture in the city of Bogor, West Java, on Tuesday.

As a transformation of the Agricultural Extension College (STPP), spread across six regions in Indonesia, the Polbangtan is an educational institution under the Ministry of Agriculture.

"The Polytechnic of Agriculture Development is an agent of change that will respond to all challenges in the agriculture sector," Minister Sulaiman remarked here on Tuesday.

The agriculture minister inaugurated the Polbangtan in the presence of State Logistics Agency (Bulog) Director Budi Waseso, Polbangtan leaders across Indonesia, Head of BPPSDMP from the Agriculture Ministry Momon Rusmono, the regional government, and partners from the business world.

Rusmono, who is also chairman of the STPP in Bogor, remarked that Polbangtan`s inauguration offered a momentum to the agricultural world within the Ministry of Agriculture.

"The transformation of STPP into Polbangtan is a commitment of the Ministry of Agriculture to prepare independent, professional, and competitive agricultural human resources," Rusmono remarked.

The Ministry of Agriculture continues to motivate the younger generation to engage in agriculture through agricultural regeneration programs.

Agricultural Regeneration is carried out to maintain the sustainability of agricultural development with the creation of a generation of agricultural enthusiasts, with the character of "Socioagripreneur."

Rusmono noted that the inauguration of Polbangtan had been stipulated in Agriculture Minister`s Regulation No. 25 of 2018.

He said, the transformation of agricultural vocational education, which was originally STPP, was solely oriented towards agricultural extension, but after becoming Polbangtan, the quality changed increasingly and developed, including the development of study programs that originally only had three but now are 13 study programs.

Rusmono said Polbangtan aims to introduce to the public, business, industry, and the government ways to empower agricultural vocational education.

On the sidelines of the launch of Polbangtan, a cooperation agreement was also signed between Polbangtan and six company partners in order to develop the "teaching factory."
