"Regarding international governance reform, we support your proposal for UN reform to amplify the voices of other major new players globally," Prabowo said during a joint press conference with Lula at the Palácio do Planalto — the Brazilian presidential palace in Brasília — on Wednesday.
Prabowo described Brazil as a major nation with a strong economy and emphasized that it deserves a more prominent and responsible role in global affairs.
He stressed the need for Indonesia and Brazil to join forces with other nations in pushing for UN reform as part of efforts to improve global governance.
"I believe we must unite our efforts and voices to advocate for this reform — together with countries like India, South Africa, Egypt, Nigeria, Germany, Japan, and Mexico," he added.
Prabowo said the bilateral meeting with Lula had been highly productive and expressed hope that the Brazilian president would make a reciprocal visit to Jakarta in October.
During the meeting, Prabowo was accompanied by several high-ranking Indonesian officials, including Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, Trade Minister Budi Santoso, and Minister of Higher Education and Science Brian Yuliarto.
