Gianyar, Bali (ANTARA News) - Geo Dipa, a state company producing electricity from geothermal, said Indonesia would gain from the annual meeting of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank in Bali next month.

Finance Ministers and Governors of Central Banks of 189 countries and investors and non governmental organizations are invited to the IMF-WB meeting to take place in Nusa Dua, Bali from 8 October until 14 October this year.

"We support the meeting as it would be a forum for Indonesia to present the country`s achievements in the process of reformation, democracy and economic development in the wake of devastating 1997-1998 crisis," Chief Executive of Geo Dipa Riki Ibrahim said in a written statement in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Riki said similar support has also expressed by a number of other state companies such as The Indonesian Export Financing Institution (LPEI), PT Sarana Multi Infrastruktur (SMI), PT Sarana Multigriya Finansial (SMF), PT Penjaminan Infrastruktur Indonesia (PII), and PT Indonesia Infrastructure Finance (IIF).

The meeting is expected to be attended by around 17,000 invitees . Apart from the finance Minister and Central Bank leaders, Parliamentarians, state officials, international observers, academicians, journalists and international agencies will attend the meeting

Around 5,000 investors and 500 non-governmental organizations would be among the invitees.

, "This would be the world`s largest economic meeting and it would benefit Indonesia as it would bring millions of U.S. dollars to the country via hotels and tourism sector," Riki said.

The week long meeting would draw many foreign investors to do business in this southeast Asia`s largest economy, he added.

He said the big economic meeting should serve a good momentum to accelerate the country`s economic development.

Earlier, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Panjaitan said extra hard work is needed to prepare and organize 3,000 meetings as part of the IMF-WB Annual Meeting.

The delegates would include 1,500 from IMF and the World Bank, 3,000-4,000 official delegates and other participants including family members of the participants.

The world attention would be drawn to Nusa Dua wanting to know the result of the important meeting , Luhuit said.

"This is the right time to present Indonesia to the internatio0nal community," he said, adding Indonesia would not play only as a host, but it could use the opportunity promote itself and its tourism wealth, he said.

The Annual Meeting of lMF-WB 2018 has prestigious and strategic substance as Indonesia, would host a big meeting which is expected to find a solution to the protracted global economic problem, he said.

The government has prepared tour packages for the delegates and arranged visits to a number of major tourist destination areas in the country such as to Lake Toba and the Komodo Park, the habitat of the ancient dragon, Komodo, not found in other places in the world. (H-ASG/E002)
