Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Darmin Nasution has encouraged business operators in the tourism sector to reap the benefits of micro loan (KUR).

Darmin stated at a national coordination meeting of the Tourism Ministry here on Thursday that the KUR, designed since two years ago, has allowed all types of productive micro and small businesses to apply for a loan.

"I want to emphasize here that we have the loan, and we have conducted identification. Hence, they would not be rejected by the auditor," he noted.

Micro loan for the tourism sector will be provided for productive businesses to support the development of 10 priority destinations and 88 strategic areas for the national tourism sector, with varied maximum loan depending on the business.

The micro loan for the tourism sector can be disbursed to personal and business groups, at an interest rate of seven percent per year.

Maximum loan for a micro business is set at Rp25 million and Rp25 million to Rp500 million for a small business, the minister elaborated.

"A maximum loan of Rp500 million for a small business should be sufficient for food and beverage or homestay businesses, with a better standard," he revealed.

The government has provided subsidy of Rp11 trillion for the KUR interest rate.

As many as 12 businesses in the tourism sector can apply for the loan: tour agent, art studio, food and beverages, tour guide services, tourism information, water tour, resort management, accommodation, tour transportation, handicraft, souvenir centers, and event organizer for meeting, incentive, convention, exhibition or MICE industry.
