Jakarta, (ANTARA News) - Indonesia is striving to enhance trade with Cambodia by encouraging local businessmen to take part in a business meeting held in Phnom Penh on Thursday as part of efforts to penetrate the Cambodian market.

Indonesia and Cambodia still can explore various potentials of cooperation between the two countries, Indonesian Ambassador to Cambodia Sudirman Haseng said in a press statement released on Thursday.

Two-way trade between Indonesia and Cambodia rose 19.9 percent in 2016. Hopefully, the business meeting held by the Indonesian embassy will contribute to the bilateral trade between the two nations in the upcoming years.

Some 50 Indonesian businessmen and 30 Cambodian businessmen took part in the meeting held before Indonesian Trade & Tourism Promotion (ITTP) 2018 started at Koh Pich Exhibition Centre in Phnom Penh.

As a follow up to the meeting, the two countries hoped there will be concrete steps and various forms of cooperation. Some of the participants considered the activity effective and productive to confront sellers with potential buyers.

The companies which sent participants to take [art in the event are engaged in food, beverage, pharmaceutical, fashion, accessories and construction industries.

During the meeting, Indonesian companies including Deltomed Laboratories and PT. Monde Mahkota Biskuit sign contracts with their Cambodian counterparts.
