Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Director of Drug Crime division of the National Police Force Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) Brigadier Police General Eko Daniyanto revealed that his personnel seized 20 kilograms worth of methamphetamine from Malaysia, smuggled into the Asahan sub-district of North Sumatra.

"Two people were arrested in relation to the case," he said in Jakarta, Friday.

It was revealed that the police arrested two suspects, identified as Mardhani, and known as Dani, and Marzuki, both of whom acted as carriers.

Daniyanto stated that investigators had initially received information on the alleged circulation of the contraband in the Asahan sub-district.

After an investigation, it was apparent that the illegal substances were smuggled using fishermen`s boats from Port Klang, Malaysia.

"The team from Bareskrim and Customs then blocked the boat at sea and at river docks in Tanjung Balai Asahan," he continued.

Furthermore, on Monday (24/9), the team arrested Mardhani, a.k.a. Dani, and Marzuki in Asahan sub-district and seized 20 packages of methamphetamine weighing 20 kilograms, hidden in three plastic jugs.
