"We are very surprised, (and) will soon help (regarding) the sorrow and sympathy of the entire nation, the government will prepare what the victims need," Vice President Jusuf Kalla said during a transit in Hong Kong on Saturday afternoon local time on his way home from New York.
Based on the latest report received here said, the death toll from the disaster had reached 384 people and is expected to continue to grow, Vice President noted.
In the meantime, a number of government officials who have arrived in Donggala among others the Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Politics, Legal and Security affairs, Gen. (ret) Wiranto, military (TNI) Commander, Gen. Hadi Tjahjanto, Minister of Home Affairs Tjahjo Kumolo, Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi, Minister of Social Affairs Agus Gumilang Kartasasmita, Minister of Communication and Information Rudiantara, and deputy national police chief, Commissioner General Aridono Sukmanto.
A 7.4-magnitude quake at 05.02 p.m. on Friday and a tsunami that happened afterwards had left 384 people dead and wounded 540 others.
