Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Prabowo-Sandiaga pair`s national campaign team has agreed to temporarily stop any form of presidential election campaign in the earthquake-and tsunami-hit province of Central Sulawesi.

"The Prabowo-Sandiaga pair`s national campaign team has agreed to work hand in hand to help our brothers in Palu, Donggala, and Lombok," Coordinator of the Prabowo-Sandiaga pair`s spokesmen, Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak, said here on Monday.

The team has agreed to temporarily stop any campaign activity in Central Sulawesi and its surrounding areas, he noted.

In fact, Sandiaga also has cancelled his plan to visit several areas in Sulawesi Island, including Gorontalo.

"Prabowo and Sandiaga will be focusing on gathering volunteers and raising social funds for Palu, Donggala, and Lombok in the next few days in Jakarta," he remarked.

Simanjuntak called on all components of the community to work hand in hand to help the victims of the powerful 7.4-magnitude earthquake and subsequent tsunami in Central Sulawesi.

He added that the country should also open the chance for international community to extend relief aid as part of the effort to speed up the rehabilitation and reconstruction of Palu, Donggala, and Lombok.

Earlier, former president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono also called for a temporary halt to presidential and legislative election campaigns in disaster-hit regions.

The call is a manifestation of solidarity with the victims of the powerful quake and tsunami in Palu and Donggala, Central Sulwesi, he revealed on his Twitter, @SBYudhoyono.
