Jakarta (ANTARA News) - International Monetary Fund (IMF) and Bank Indonesia (BI) have released a book entitled "Realizing Indonesia`s Economic Potential" on the progress made by Indonesia in various aspects in the last two decades.

"This book release precedes the 2018 IMF-WB Annual Meetings to be held next week and explains Indonesia`s resilience at present compared to the era of the 1997-1998 crisis," BI Governor Perry Warjiyo said in Jakarta on Thursday.

The most interesting part of the book, according to him, is the explanation on how Indonesia survived the global economic turbulence, such as the 2008 global crisis and taper tantrum.

"Indonesia has the ability to face these pressures because of several reforms in banking as well as monetary and fiscal aspects to support economic fundamentals," Warjiyo stated.

The book also provides a number of policy alternatives that can be taken into consideration in order to benefit from Indonesia`s economic potential.

Some of the policy recommendations include infrastructure development and how the financing can be pursued through public private partnership (PPP) scheme or optimizing the implementation of online single submission (OSS).

The book is edited by IMF Mission Chief for Indonesia, Luis E. Breuer, and two IMF senior economists, Jaime Guajardo and Tidiane Kinda.

Contributors to the book include former finance minister Chatib Basri, Finance Ministry`s head of the Fiscal Policy Office Suahasil Nazara, and IMF deputy head of Fiscal Affairs Department Teresa Curristine.
