Medan, N Sumatra, (ANTARA News) - A flash flood has killed 11 people in Mandailing Natal district in North Sumatra, North Sumatra police spokesman Senior Commissioner Tatan Dirsan Atmaja said here on Saturday.

Meanwhile, 17 others have been injured after an elementary school building collapsed due to the disaster.

"A villager known as Mutiah (12) has gone missing, and search is currently still being carried out," he noted.

A total of 12 houses have been totally damaged or sweptaway by the flood water, he added.

"A village polyclinic, state elementary school, and 235 building have been heavily damaged, and a PKK (motherhood program) service building has been totally damaged after being swept away," he explained.

He noted that the police and community members were evacuating damaged buildings and looking out for victims.
