New Delhi, India, (ANTARA News) - Indonesian Ambassador to India Sidharto Suryodipuro plans to hold a movie festival to commemorate 70 years of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and India.

"The Indonesian Embassy would like to cooperate with the Ministry of Culture and Education, Indonesia Film Agency, and Indonesian filmmakers to hold an event in New Delhi and Mumbai next year to promote Indonesian movies," Ambassador Suryodipuro stated here on Tuesday (Oct 16).

He emphasized that movies have the potential to serve as a diplomatic tool to promote Indonesia`s excellence in India. In fact, India is already well-known for its film industry called Bollywood.

"This movie festival will serve as an event to create the Indonesian brand in India. A strong brand will support our efforts to promote Indonesia`s tourism, trade, and other sectors," he pointed out.

The Indonesian Embassy in New Delhi has begun the process of selecting movies suitable for audiences from both countries to be screened at the Indonesia and India film festival.

Suryodipuro stated that the movie festival, commemorating seven decades of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and India, is planned to be held at both countries' embassies.
