Jakarta, (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) handed over tens of thousands of land rights certificates to the community in Marunda, Cilincing, Jakarta.

"I have given a target to the Land Affairs Minister. Last year, I gave a target of five million in all of Indonesia," Jokowi stated in his remarks, after handing over the certificate at C-04 Field Nusantara Bonded Zone, on Wednesday afternoon.

According to Jokowi, with the hard work and service of the National Land Agency (BPN), both at the central and regional levels, the distribution of all land certificates could be completed.

Ownership of land certificates can avoid land disputes in Indonesia, which often occur between communities, as well as communities with companies.

"We expect the people to have the certificate, so that the proof of legal rights to the land we have becomes clear," the president remarked.

As many as 10 thousand recipients of the certificate were present at the handover ceremony.

The Agrarian and Spatial Planning (ATR) ministry targets 332 thousand land certificates to be distributed in Metropolitan (DKI) Jakarta in 2018.

Meanwhile, as many as 70 thousand plots of land that have not been certified will be completed in 2019.

There are 12 representatives of DKI Jakarta citizens from 13 villages in North Jakarta on stage to receive symbolic land certificates from Jokowi.

The president was accompanied by the Minister of Agrarian and Spatial Planning (ATR) /Land Agency Head Sofyan Djalil, and DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan at the event.

The target of delivering five million certificates in 2017 has been reached.

Meanwhile, about seven million land certificates were handed over to the public in 2018, and in 2019, there were nine million certificates.
