Balikpapan, E Kalimantan (ANTARA News) - Indonesia`s number one men`s double pair Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo and Marcus Fernaldi Gideon came out as champion at Denmark Badminton Open on Sunday after beating Takeshi Kamura/Keigo Sonoda at the final round 21-15, 21-16.

"We are glad (with the victory) because we failed to win it last year. We came here again this year and we won. We were satisfied with the tournament," Marcus said after the game as reported in the All Indonesia Badminton Association (PBSI) official website.

Last year Kevin/Marcus failed to win the champion title at the event after being defeated by Liu Cheng/Zhang Nan from China at the final round.

Marcus said he hoped they could perform maximally at every event to be attended despite the title they have won.

Kevin said the game against Kamura/Sonoda had always been hard because they all had recorded victories or defeats so far. The match on Sunday against the Japanese was the tenth between the two pairs with a 6-4 score in favor of the Indonesian players.

The champion title of Kevin/Marcus at Denmark Open 2018 ended the absence of titles for Indonesia at Denmark Open since 2009 after the one clinched by men`s single player Simon Santoso.
