Yogyakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesia has invited other ASEAN member states and dialog partners, namely China, Japan and South Korea, to join Indonesiana platform to develop cultural ecosystem.

"Indonesia has specifically proposed that other ASEAN member states and dialog partners, namely China, Japan and South Korea to participate in Indonesiana platform," Director General of Culture at the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture Hilmar Farid said on the sidelines of the 8th meeting of ASEAN Ministers Responsible for Culture and Arts (AMCA) in Yogyakarta on Wednesday.

Indonesiana platform is the initiative of the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture to strengthen cultural ecosystem, he said.

"Indonesia has taken advantage of the dialog to introduce the concept and invite them to join it and some of them have given positive responses to it. We hope that there will be cooperation with the other ASEAN member states and three dialog partners to implement it in 2019," he said.

Indonesia has been appointed to chair ASEAN ministerial meeting and senior officials meeting in the cultural and art fields in the the next two years.

Since early this year, the Indonesian government has carried out a number of activities related to Indonesiana platform in 26 districts and municipalities. One of the activities was International Gamelan Festival in Solo, Central Java.

He said if the ministry has had a list of cultural activities in 2019, it could offer it to the other ASEAN member states and three dialog partners to support the activities under the Indonesiana platform.

"By doing so, we hope that cultural exchange will increasingly become stronger through this platform," he said.
