Jakarta, (ANTARA News) - The 5th Global Health Security Agenda (GHSA) High-Level Ministerial Meeting has a strategic agenda to increase commitment, strengthen multi-sectoral and multi-party partnership, and identify work areas to achieve GHSA 2024 framework`s vision, aim, and target.

"In short, GHSA wants the world to be free from the threat of various dangerous and infectious diseases, intentionally or unintentionally," Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Puan Maharani remarked in her opening address during the meeting held at the Nusa Dua Convention Center in Bali Province on Tuesday morning.

Representatives from 49 out of the 65 GHSA member states, international organizations, and non-governmental organizations participated in the meeting this time.

GHSA is the initiatives of states to accelerate the implementation of International Health Regulation 2005 to deal with emerging infectious diseases, such as Ebola, MERS-CoV, SARS, Bird Flu, and biotic resistant bacteria.

Maharani noted that the Indonesian government had always paid special attention to health problems that is a priority program in the national development.

She added that Indonesia had always strengthened the health system by providing fair, quality, and affordable health services for the entire nation, including vulnerable and marginalized people living in remote areas.

"Indonesia views health development as an essential pillar to develop national resilience," she added.
