Ambassador Quang said he had visited the vice president to deliver condolences of the government and people of Vietnam over the Lion Air JT 610 plane crash tragedy.
He also expressed sympathy over the earthquake and tsunami that had earlier struck Palu, Central Sulawesi, and the earthquake in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara.
During the visit, talks were also held on intensifying bilateral cooperation between both countries.
"We also spoke about strategic partnership between Indonesia and Vietnam," the ambassador noted.
He further stated that Indonesia and Vietnam had enjoyed close ties for a long time, as the relationship was established in 1955 by then president of Vietnam Ho Chi Minh and then Indonesian president Soekarno.
The ambassador noted that the partnership between both countries had been heightened along the way, as they had both signed strategic partnership agreements.
President Joko Widodo`s visit to Vietnam last September and his meeting with Vietnam`s PM in Bali during the last IMF-World Bank annual meeting in October 2018 further strengthened the two countries` strategic partnership.
Indonesia and Vietnam have also compiled an action plan for the 2019-2024 period, as a continuation of the 2014-2018 strategic partnership action plan.
