The index of the Indonesian Stock Exchange (BEI) rose 58.14 points to 5,835.19 points and the index of the 45 most liquid stocks rose 1.38 percent to 920.14 points.
Vice President of Research Department of Indosurya Bersinar Sekuritas, William Surya Wijaya, said the IHSG gained after diving in the opening trade on Tuesday morning, showing the confidence of investors in the country`s economy.
William said rupiah stability against the U.S. dollar also contributed positive sentiment prompting investment.
There were 389,734 transactions with 9.69 billion shares valued at Rp7.87 trillion changing hands. Gainers were 168 shares against 188 decliners with 147 shares unchanged.
Regional markets including Nikkei and Strait Time recorded a decline in index but Hang Seng recorded an increase.
