Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Jakarta composite share price index (IHSG) closed 0.28 percent higher on Monday on investors` expectation of the phenomenon of window dressing ahead of the year end.

The index of the Indonesian Stock Exchange (BEI) rose 16.57 points to 6,022.77 points. The index of 45 most liquid stocks (LQ45) rose 0.33 percent to 962.94 points.

"Currently, IHSG is in the phase of consolidation ahead of the year-end but tended to strengthen," stock market observer Aria Santoso said.

Aria said there would be window dressing phenomenon this year that the IHSG is likely to gain more strength.

Normally investors would accumulate shares with positive performance and accumulation by investors was almost at once.

There were 430,303 transactions in Monday` trading with 9.6 billion shares worth Rp7.28 trillion changing hands.

Decliners outnumbered gainers by 215 to 177 with 128 shares remaining unchanged.

Regional markets such as Nikkei, Hang Seng and Strait Times recorded an increase in index.
