"This exhibition aims to promote Indonesia in Saudi Arabia, in particular, and the Middle East, in general. So far, Indonesia has not been seen as having profitable trade relations or tourist attractions and investments," Chairman of the Indonesia Expo 2018 Sukur Sakka stated here on Tuesday, (Nov 27).
The exhibition, held at the Jeddah Center for Forums & Events, will feature 75 booths showcasing Indonesian products and services from various companies.
According to Sakka, 70 percent of the products on display are food items, considering that Indonesian food has vast opportunities in the Saudi Arabian market.
"The products are coffee, ready-to-eat food products, and chocolate. These products seem to have a great opportunity to be marketed here. These products are attractive," Sakka stated.
At the inaugural exhibition, Sakka has prioritized to introduce Indonesian products and services.
Sakka expressed hope that the exhibition, to be held from November 28 to December 1, 2018, would be able to generate US$1 billion.
He pointed out that the exhibition is held by the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Indonesia and Jeddah, in collaboration with the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Jeddah, and the Ministry of Trade.
At the exhibition, the Ministry of Trade will hold a business forum and bring together entrepreneurs from Jeddah and Indonesia to establish business cooperation.
It is estimated that some one thousand people will visit the exhibition to be officially opened on Nov 28 at 19.00 local time.
