Pangandaran, W Java, (ANTARA News) - Pangandaran District in West Java is in need of a commercial airport to support the tourism sector in the district, according to Tourism Minister Arief Yahya.

"In order to become a global tourist destination in West Java, Pangandaran District needs an airport for commercial flights," the tourism minister remarked, while attending the Tourism Awareness Familiarization and Sapta Enchantment here, on Wednesday.

The minister stated that Pangandaran District has to be a global tourist destination with an international airport to facilitate tourist access to the district.

"To make Pangandaran a global tourist destination, an international airport to accommodate commercial flights should be built in the district," Yahya reiterated.

Pangandaran has many favorite tourist attractions such as beaches and rivers.

Several famous beaches in Pangandaran are Pangandaran beach, Batu Hiu beach, Batu Karas beach, Madasari beach, and Karapyak beach.

There are also several famous rivers, namely Cukang Taneuh (green canyon), Citumang, and Santirah.

Pangandaran also has a lot of tourism facilities, such as star-rated hotels, inns, motels, caf?s, restaurants, and shopping centers, but all of these must be supported by the presence of an airport that serves commercial flights.
