"The Muslim fashion exhibition will be held in 2019. We see it as an important moment to socialize the event in Paris," Director General of Small and Medium Industries (IKM) of the Ministry of Industry, Gati Wibawaningsih, stated in Bali on Saturday.
In a written statement received by Jakarta, it was stated that the "La Mode" Sur La Seine ? Paris would be attended by 400 participants from abroad, including Italy, Australia, Germany, Taiwan, Korea, United States, United Arab Emirates, Spain, United Kingdom, and Russia.
Thus, the target is to increase the export value of national fashion products, especially Muslim fashion, in the European market and OIC countries, she noted.
Wibawaningsih explained that the event was organized by the Indonesian Fashion Chamber (IFC). This is a designer organization and fashion business with the largest number of members from various regions in Indonesia, including accommodating designers who are ready to explore the global market.
"Through the event, IFC members were given the opportunity to introduce their work at the international level, as well as establish business with potential partners, and increase exports," she stated, adding that a fashion show was held on cruise ships sailing from the Eiffel Tower along the Seine River and surrounding a number of iconic locations at the center of world fashion, Paris, France.
The 16 Indonesian designers involved in "La Mode" Sur La Seine ? Paris are Lisa Fitria, Deden Siswanto, Lenny Agustin, Sofie, Ali Charisma, Shanty Couture, IDENTIX by Irma Susanti, Lia Mustafa, Lia Soraya, Rosie Rahmadi, #Markamarie, Istituto Di Moda Burgo Indonesia, ZELMIRA by SMK NU Banat, and Aceh Provincial Government which, through the Aceh Tourism Office, displays a collection of REBORN29 by Sukriyah Rusdy.
IFC National Chairman Ali Charisma remarked that the fashion show in Paris was intended to show the superiority of the work of Indonesian fashion designers with diversity and local ethnic strength at the global level.
In this series of activities, a group of Indonesian designers will visit the famous lace factory in Paris, "Cite de la Dentelle et de la Mode."
In addition, Wibawaningsih explained that the Ministry of Industry continues to encourage the younger generation to become creative industry players, especially in the field of crafts and fashion.
This effort was made to boost the creative industry sector in the country, so as to continue to make a significant contribution to the national economy.
The creative industry in Indonesia has recorded an ever increasing contribution to gross domestic product (GDP) in the last three years. In 2015, this sector contributed Rp852 trillion, while in 2016, it reached Rp923 trillion, and increased to Rp990 trillion in 2017. In 2018, it is projected to reach up to Rp1 thousand trillion.
"The creative industry is the backbone of the Indonesian economy. Currently, players in the age range of between 30 and 59 years dominate the creative industry," she revealed, adding that for this reason, it was necessary to increase creative young entrepreneurs in the middle of the digital economic era.
To achieve this goal, the Ministry of Industry has carried out the Indonesia Fashion and Craft Awards (IFCA) activities as part of the Bali Creative Industry Center (BCIC) program. IFCA is organized to screen young designers in the craft and fashion fields, who will be the driving force of the national creative industry, with the aim of this program being those under the age of 30.
