"The syndicate intentionally used the luxury villa to hoodwink police officers," Chief of the Lima Puluh Police Precinct in Pekanbaru City Commissioner Angga F. Herlambang stated here on Monday.
The police also arrested four people on drug charges during the raid conducted last week. Those arrested were identified by their initials as ZAT, 28, and HM, 26, from Bantan Sub-district, Bengkalis District; IK, 29, from Bangkinang Sub-district, Kampar District; and MT, 27, from Tenayan Raya Sub-district, Pekanbaru City.
"They acted as couriers in the drug syndicate," he stated.
Herlambang said the police exposed the drug syndicate after receiving a tip-off from the public about the rampant trafficking of crystal meth and ecstasy in Baliview Villa.
"Based on the preliminary result of investigation, the drugs were taken from Bengkalis and trafficked in Pekanbaru," he revealed.
The police unearthed the drug trafficking syndicate after some police officers arrived under the veil of buyers and conducted transactions with the drug syndicate.
When the police officers made transactions, they later arrested the four people on drug charges.
