Bandarlampung, Lampung (ANTARA News) - Vice President Jusuf Kalla advised the Indonesian Muslim Intellectuals Association (ICMI) to strengthen scientific groups, so that strong organizations can be formed to help provide solutions to national problems.

"I told them to strengthen scientific groups, so that at the National Work Gathering (Silaknas), they could speak about economics, education, and other topics. If it was not formed, each National Silaknas meeting`s discussion would only be political to support who, who, and who," he noted at the Supreme Mahligai Building, Postgraduate University of Bandar Lampung, Saturday.

He noted that economics, technology, education, and entrepreneurship should be the main topics of discussion at a meeting. Although Lampung has a large and fertile land, without adequate technology and science, other nations will be in a commanding position.

"Today`s technology continues to grow, one of which is mushrooming telecommunication shops. However, now it is gone due to technological developments and such problems must be solved," he remarked.

He added that ICMI, as a union of scholars, must be a pioneer for the community and be able to generate donations to ensure prosperity in society.

"It is not only about producing positions but also those who are diligent in ICMI for office. I invite all ICMI members to produce ideas on boosting the people`s prosperity, so that at the ICMI meeting, it is no longer just about discussing social politics," he added.
