Cilegon, Banten (ANTARA News) - Vice President Boediono inspected a state elementary school in Cibeber subdistrict, Cilegon city, Banten province, which had been damaged to the extent of 90 pct.

The Vice President flanked by his wife, Herawati Boediono, arrived at the location after 1.5 hours of riding a bus from Jakarta on Sunday, and was welcomed by Banten Vice Governor Rano Karno.

The Vice President`s entourage also included Education and Culture Minister M Nuh and Public Works Minister Djoko Kirmanto.

Upon arrival at the school which had been practically totally demolished, the Vice President received an explanation on the condition of the school from head of the Cilegon city educational office Mochtar Gazali.

Gozali said the building was badly damaged and therefore had to be demolished, and the construction of a new building would cost Rp327.28 million.

The Vice President also had the opportunity to talk with a number of teachers of the school.

Boediono was at the school for about 25 minutes and then inspected the other schools, including a state elementary school in Jombang subdistrict.

The condition of this school is relatively better, and some of its class rooms are still being rehabilitated at a cost of Rp159 million.
