Jakarta, Dec 8 (ANTARA News) - Vice President Jusuf Kalla has reminded the organization of the Indonesian Muslim Intellectuals Association (ICMI) not to prioritize political discussions but rather strengthen scientific fields to address the nation`s current problems.

"ICMI must strengthen scientific groups that speak about technology, social, economics, and entrepreneurship. If not, the meetings will eventually become a political meeting to discuss who supports whom," Kalla noted, when closing the Silaturahni National Work (Silaknas) and ICMI`s 28th Anniversary in Lampung, on Saturday.

Kalla reminded that if intellectual organizations, such as ICMI, discussed too much politics, then economic issues and technology in the country would be left behind and put aside, especially during the political year ahead of the General Election.

As a result, economic activities will continue to be carried out by entrepreneurs without any regeneration.

"Finally, every time you want an election, you ask for support or blessing to those who control the economy. Finally, after winning politics, sometimes there are regions that control it that have an economy (money)," Kalla explained.

As an entrepreneur and politician, Kalla noted that not a few economic actors are involved in political activities in a region or country.

This happens because in every political year, economic activity is always ruled out because most people focus on winning certain candidates.

"Actually, behind politics, there is economic control which controls it. That happens everywhere and not just here. In US also, political lobbying by entrepreneurs is a huge influence in government decision making," he explained.

Therefore, the vice president hopes that community organizations, involving scholars, must be able to see the nation`s problems widely.

"We can only bring prosperity if we can master the economy, technology, and politics simultaneously. Let us understand that mastering the economic field and technology must be a major part of this discussion, "he remarked.
