Head of OJK for Papua and West Papua Adolf FT. Simanjuntak remarked that third-party funds held by banks in Papua reached Rp41.42 trillion, or an increase of 1.23 percent yoy.
"Similarly, the loan-to-deposit ratio (LDR) of commercial banks in Papua was recorded at 63.7 percent, rising 6.15 percent," Simanjuntak noted here on Friday
By September 2018, outstanding credits of banks in Papua reached Rp26.38 trillion, or an increase of 7.46 percent from a year earlier.
Simanjuntak also noted that despite the increase in credit disbursements, the non-performing loan ratio reached 38.85 percent, lower to 3.28 percent.
"The figures show that banks in Papua could manage their non-performing credits, and the increase in credit disbursement is expected to contribute to improving the economy of the province," he stated.
Meanwhile, credits of People`s Credit Banks (BPR) in the country`s most backward region grew 8.36 percent in September 2018. Unfortunately, the NPL of BPR in the province shot up 205.58 percent to 15.74 percent.
The assets of BPR in Papua increased to Rp1.3 trillion, or 12.75 percent higher. Third-party funds held by BPRs in Papua reached Rp0.47 trillion, or an increase of 14.19 percent.
