He made the call after distributing the certificate covering up to 91,981 hectares of forest land to 8,165 families in nine districts in the Sumatran province.
"I will check later to see if the land is really developed. We still have much to distribute and we will continue to do it to assure that all people have land to produce anything. It is up to you. If you want to use it for coffee plantation, it is alright. Go ahead," he told the people.
He said the permit to use the forest land is effective for 35 years and it is considered long enough.
"It is a quite long concession right and it is for the people. While it used to be given to big companies before it is now for the small entities or the people," he said.
President Jokowi called on the people to develop prime commodities that could produce an economic value.
There are a lot of commodities that could be developed on their land that would give an added value such as coffee, patchouli or "kepayang" (pangium edule) or others, he said.
