"Every Christmas and New Year Bali is crowded with tourists. Over the past week Bedugul is already full of tourists," head of the Provincial tourist service Anak Agung Gede Yuniartha Putra, said here on Tuesday.
An increase in the number of tourist arrivals toward the end of this year is partly contributed by school holidays before Christmas and New Year.
"Increase, therefore, is mainly in the number of domestic tourists. They visit Bali not only for Christmas and New Year celebrations," he said.
Yuniartha with the increase, the number of tourist arrivals could reach the target of 6.5 million in foreign tourist arrivals in Bali this year.
In the first 10 months of this year , the number of arrivals of foreign tourists in Bali reached 5,164,929.
The largest numbers were from China reaching 1,207,268, Australia 980,164, India 291,600, Britain 234,498 and Japan 219,598.
?"In December, my hope is there are more tourists to visit Bali , that the target of 6.5 million arrivals could be achieved," he said.
Yuniartha Putra said a number of major tourist destinations in Bali have been ready to welcome tourists.
"The district/city administrations have also coordinated with police for security and other related agencies such as the public works service to ensure that visitors would feel convenient in Bali," he said.
Yuniartha said he hoped plans for arts and cultural festivals yet to be held this year are expected to also attract tourists.
"There are many festivals in Bali . There are more than
200 festivals but sometimes we are in difficulty in promotion," he said.
