"The figure includes Rp3.05 trillion investment in the construction sector from 2017 to 2018, and domestic and foreign participants` spending at Rp582 billion in 2018," National Development Planning Minister/Bappenas Head, Bambang Brodjonegoro, said during a press conference here on Tuesday.
The government has claimed that the annual meetings of IMF-WB 2018 had various positive impacts on Indonesia.
The number of official delegates to the IMF-WB annual meetings was the highest ever since the meetings were held outside Washington DC.
More than 50 percent of the participants would not have come to Bali unless the IMF-WB annual meetings were held in the resort island. Some of the delegates originally had no plan to visit Indonesia.
The success of the IMF-WB meetings was also reflected by the evaluation of participants, who were satisfied or very satisfied in all aspects, particularly politeness.
Based on the results of a survey conducted by Bappenas and the University of Indonesia`s Institute for Economic and Social Research (LPEM FEB UI), 76 percent of the participants wished to visit Indonesia again.
In terms of tourism promotion, 95 percent of the participants pledged to recommend their colleagues, families, and friends in their country to visit Indonesia.
The long-term impact of the IMF-WB meetings on host Indonesia will be both tangible and intangible. During the meetings, Indonesia signed investment contracts with investors from various countries.
As many as 14 state-owned companies signed investment contracts, with a total value of Rp202 trillion. The PINA Center of Bappenas has also successfully facilitated investment contracts, with a total value of Rp47 trillion, during the meetings.
The most essential impact of the IMF-WB meetings is the ability of Indonesia to play a role in the international forum.
