Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Education and Culture Minister Muhadjir Effendy said that character education would include material on student resilience to disasters as Indonesia was vulnerable to natural disasters.

"The character education will offer training to students about the skills necessary to face the actual matters for them," Muhadjir Effendy said here on Thursday.

Some materials could be included in character education, such as the dangers of drugs, safe schools, dangerous thoughts, traffic law awareness, anti-corruption, and disaster mitigation.

The material in character education about disasters comes as one package for skills, he noted.

"That is one package. We receive other materials too," the minister added.

In general, he noted that character education would not be included as a compulsory subject which would burden the students.

"But it will be integrated with existing subjects," the minister stated.

Starting in 2019 character education would be included in the subject matter or integrated with the basics of life skills, he remarked.
