Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Until December 27, 2018, State-owned Enterprises (BUMN) offered assistance of over Rp2 billion covering ready-to-eat food, medicines, drinking water, blankets, toiletries, basic and other daily necessities for Sunda Strait tsunami victims in Banten and Lampung.

BUMN Minister Rini Soemarno said she continued to encourage synergy between BUMN to restore the tsunami-affected areas in Banten and Lampung, one of which is through financial assistance.

"After the incident, we moved quickly to identify any assistance needed in the evacuation stage to `recovery.` We also focused on restoring public services, such as electricity, telecommunications, and fuel," Minister Soemarno noted in a written statement here on Thursday.

Moreover, the minister said BUMN had also deployed medical personnel, distributed Pertamina gas cylinders, set up tents, opened public kitchens, offered heavy equipment, such as excavators, provided ambulances, and also arranged for tetanus and flu vaccines for the affected communities.

After the incident, the Ministry of BUMN also directly appointed two BUMNs to serve as coordinators for distribution of aid in the regions of Lampung and Banten. PTPN III acts as the aid coordinator in Lampung, while Krakatau Steel functions as the aid coordinator in Banten.

Under the coordination of PTPN III, BUMN assistance to Lampung has, so far, collected aid funds worth approximately Rp1.27 billion. Under the coordination of Krakatau Steel, BUMN assistance for Banten has reached approximately Rp1.64 billion.

Such assistance came from the synergy among BUMN: PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero), PT Jasa Raharja (Persero), PT Pindad (Persero), PT Pertamina (Persero), PT Hutama Karya (Persero), PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, PT Bank Tabungan Negara (Persero) Tbk, PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk, PT Bio Farma (Persero), PT Kimia Farma (Persero) Tbk, PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero), PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk, PT Waskita Karya (Persero) Tbk, PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, and PT Krakatau Steel (Persero) Tbk.

Furthermore, PT Perkebunan Nusantara III (Persero), Perum Jamkrindo, PT Askrindo (Persero), PT Adhi Karya (Persero) Tbk, State Logistics Agency, PT PGN Tbk, PT Taspen (Persero), PT Asuransi Jasindo (Persero), PT Jasa Raharja (Persero), PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero), PT Askrindo (Persero), PT Bukit Asam Tbk, PT Semen Baturaja (Persero) Tbk, and PT PELNI (Persero) also synergized their efforts.

The amount of assistance will continue to grow along with the increasing number of SOEs participating in the distribution of aid.
