An official of the Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency of Pandeglang Ade Mulyana noted here on Tuesday that the bridge in Sukamara Village collapsed after being hit by strong water currents.
"The incident has cut off access to the four villages of Kananga, Purwaraja, Sindang Karya, and Cigandeng in Menes Sub-district," Mulyana remarked.
According to Mulyana, the Cisata River should be immediately cleared of the damaged remains of the bridge to prevent them from clogging the waters that would ultimately overflow to the nearest housing area.
Meanwhile, in Panimbang Sub-district of Pandeglang, dozens of fishermen lost their livelihood, as their boats were destroyed by the tsunami on Dec 22.
"Based on our record, some 178 boats in Panimbang were destroyed due to the tsunami," the sub-district`s head Suaedi Kurdiatna stated.
Kurdiatna admitted to have not yet found a solution to the problem, as the authority is still focusing on restoring houses damaged by the high waves.
"I hope a solution would be found for them (the fishermen) at least to relieve their burden," he added.
