Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Inspector General Idham Azis has officially become head of the Criminal Investigation Department (Bareskrim) of the Indonesian Police (Polri).

Police Chief General Tito Karnavian led a ceremony in which Commissioner General Arief Sulistyanto handed over his position as the Bareskrim chief to Azis at the Police Headquarters here, Thursday.

Sulistyanto has been appointed as head of the Police`s Education and Training Institute.

The ceremony also witnessed several other transfers of positions that officiated Commissioner General Unggung Chayono as head of the Police`s Intelligence and Security Department to success Commissioner General Lutfi Lubihanto, who has entered retirement period.

Moreover, Inspector General Gatot Eddy Pramono officially took over the post of Jakarta Police chief, Inspect General Hamidin as South Sulawesi Police chief, Brigadier General Supratman as Bengkulu Police chief, and Brigadier General Suroto as North Maluku Police chief.

Gen. Karnavian said it was normal for transfers of positions to take place in the Police, as several high-ranking officials were retiring.
