Jakarta, (ANTARA News) - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan met Vice President Jusuf Kalla here on Friday to discuss the integration of modes of transportation in and around Jakarta as part of efforts to reduce the use of private cars.

"In essence, (the meeting discussed) the integration of transportation modes and the integration of spatial planning with transportation plans. The implementation (of the plan) is assigned to the vice president to coordinate it since it involves several ministries and regions," Baswedan said following the meeting with Kalla at the latter`s office here.

Hopefully, the integration of the transportation modes will increase the use of public transport to at least 75 percent, he said.

"Today, 25 percent (of residents) use public transport and 75 percent use private cars. So, we must reverse the ratio. For its part, public transport must reach all areas," he said.

The integration of the public transport systems included the integration of ticket sales and the construction of parking lots outside Jakarta to ease the use of public transport, he said.

"The tickets will link all destinations. Residents can use all transportation modes from and to anywhere. We will also construct parking lots outside Jakarta to enable the public to park their cars there and then use public transport. All this must be one package," he said.
