Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Puan Maharani has lauded an Indonesia-Cambodia Friendship Joint Cultural Performance organized to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Indonesian and Cambodian diplomatic relations.

Maharani in a statement here, Thursday, expressed hope that the event would bring the two countries` people closer and strengthen the bilateral ties between both nations.

The minister remarked that both countries had established sound bilateral relations in various fields, such as education, tourism, culture, defense, and civil aviation.

Indonesia`s participation in the cultural performance was expected to promote its culture and traditional arts to the Cambodian people.

"The Indonesian Government views this event as significant and strategic, and we hope that during my visit, we would implement concrete and beneficial cooperation in culture and the MoU on Sister Temple Province Cooperation that we have," Maharani noted.

The joint cultural performance was organized by the Indonesian embassy in Phnom Penh and the Government of Cambodia.

Indonesia`s artists performed traditional bamboo music "angklung-kolintang" and South Sumatran traditional dance "Gending Sriwijaya" during the cultural event held at the Chaktomuk Theater in Phnom Penh.
