AntaraJakarta (ANTARA) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) called on the United Development Party (PPP) former chairperson Romahurmuziy (RMY) to undergo examination in an investigation into bribery in filling positions in Indonesia's Religion Ministry during the 2018-2019 period.
The summons was the first time since RMY was declared a suspect on Saturday, (Mar 16).
"Today, it is scheduled to examine RMY as a corruption suspect for involvement in bribery for filling positions in the Ministry of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia in 2018-2019," KPK spokesman Febri Diansyah stated when confirmed in Jakarta on Thursday.
In addition, the KPK summoned two other suspects in the case on Thursday: Head of Gresik District, Ministry of Religion, Muhammad Muafaq Wirahadi (MFQ) and Head of the East Java Provincial Ministry of Religion Haris Hasanuddin (HRS).
Outlining the chronology of the case, the KPK explained that an open selection process was announced at the end of 2018 through the "Auction Service System for Candidates for High-ranking Officials."
In the announcement, one of the positions to be filled was for head of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Religion, East Java Province.
The announcement also appeared online on http://seleksijpt.kemenag.co.id. Several names of applicants, including HRS, came up during the selection process for filling the positions.
MFQ registered for the position of head of the Office of the Ministry of Religion of Gresik District, while HRS applied for the post of head of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Religion of East Java Province.
Communication and meetings between MFQ and HRS allegedly occurred with RMY and other parties.
MFQ and HRS allegedly contacted RMY for assistance in the process of qualifying for positions at Indonesia's Ministry of Religion.
On February 6, 2019, HRS allegedly went to RMY's house to hand over Rp250 million in connection with selecting HRS for the job posting according to his earlier commitment. At that time, the first presumption was suspected.
In mid-February 2019, the Ministry of Religion received information that HRS' name was not among the three to be proposed to the Indonesian minister of religion.
HRS had allegedly received disciplinary punishment beforehand. It is suspected that certain parties had cooperated for clearing HRS in the high-level selection process at the Indonesian Ministry of Religion.
Furthermore, at the start of March 2019, HRS was appointed by the minister of religion of the Republic of Indonesia as head of the Regional Office of Religion of East Java.
On March 12, 2019, MFQ had communicated with HRS for a meeting with RMY.
Later, on March 15, 2019, MFQ, HRS, and Abdul Wahab met with RMY for the handover of Rp50 million in connection with the job selection interests of MFQ.
Wahab is a candidate for Gresik District DPRD member from PPP. EDITED BY INE
