Dumai (ANTARA) - Presidential Candidate Number 01 Joko Widodo announced the Malaka-Dumai roll-on/roll-off (RoRo) ferry to the people of Riau.
"I agreed to the RoRo Malaka-Dumai ferry. I signed the agreement today," Jokowi said at the Bukit Gelanggang Park field in Dumai, Riau, Tuesday, during an open campaign.
The new route of the RoRo ship in the Dumai-Malaka region had been discussed since September 2018 because the volume of trade between Indonesia and Malaysia is greater than that of Bitung (North Sulawesi-Davao / General Santos (Philippines).
PT ASDP has prepared two ships for use on the Dumai-Malaka route, namely the Passenger Motor Vessel (KMP) JATRA I and KMP JATRA II.
KMP JATRA I weighs 3,871 Gross Tons with a capacity of 700 passengers and 50 vehicle, while KMP JATRA II weighs 3,902 Gross Tons with a capacity of 527 passengers and 54 vehicle.
From the sea transportation side, it can be said that it is ready. The passenger terminal is already operating. However, there are still a number of issues that need to be resolved with regard to land transportation, such as "safety standards", wheels, machinery, customs, commodities and so on.
From the land transportation side, an agreement has not been reached between Indonesia and Malaysia regarding the technical specifications of trucks / four-wheeled vehicle that will enter / exit ports and cross the border areas of the two countries.
"Secondly, there is a train from Labuhan Batu to Dumai. I conveyed it immediately and the work will continue," Jokowi stressed.
Third, Jokowi also promised to expand the oil palm area.
"This is the oil palm business, we have already stepped on B50, and there has been an MoU between PT Badak Lima and Pertamina just to implement it, and this will expand the existing area of oil palm," Jokowi added.
B50 is a 50 percent mix of CPO (crude palm oil) biodiesel fuel.
The Presidential Election on April 17, 2019, will be contested by two pairs, namely Candidate Number 01 Joko Widodo-Ma'ruf Amin and Candidate Number 02 Prabowo Subianto-Sandiaga Uno.
